Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Japan
The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Japan in collaboration with the Indonesia Japan Friendship Festival 2023 Executive Committee proudly announce that THE INDONESIA JAPAN FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL 2023 will be held to commemorate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan.
The festival is the largest scale celebration of Indonesian culture in Japan and we are confident that 2023, the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan, will be even more wonderful.
Since the inauguration of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan on January 20, 1958, the cooperation and ties between the two countries have intensified, especially after the signing of the “Strategic Partnership for a Peaceful and Prosperous Future” in 2006.
By 2045, Indonesia and Japan are projected to be the fifth and fourth largest economies in the world after China, the United States, and India. With this backdrop, Indonesia – Japan will have a significant role in creating a prosperous and peaceful region. Indonesia and Japan will also become engines of global growth in the future.
Indonesia and Japan cannot be denied are two countries that complement each other. As an emerging nation with a population dominated by youth, Indonesia is the solution to the needs of Japanese workers as a developed country with an aging society population. Indonesia, which is rich in natural resources, can also meet the massive raw material needs of Japan’s industry.
However, the COVID19 pandemic that has hit the world since 2020 has undeniably presented several new crises and challenges. Joint efforts in responding to global challenges through cooperation between countries is a necessity. Only with close cooperation can the two countries recover together more strongly in order to achieve a common future. Not only to recover together and recover stronger, but also to build an epicenter of growth in the region.
In 2023, Indonesia and Japan celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. This is an auspicious momentum to recharge and strengthen the relationship between our two countries. This festival will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. We hope that many Japan and Indonesians will come to Yoyogi Park Event Square on October 14th and 15th.
Summary
This event will introduce the art, culture, and culinary of both Indonesia and Japan. Indonesian music, traditional dance (such as Balinese dance) and martial arts performances are performed on the stage. In the food and marketing area, you can enjoy Indonesian nasi goreng, mie goreng (Indonesian style fried noodles), ayam goreng (Indonesian-style fried chicken). You can also enjoy shopping for Indonesian music CDs, apparel, accessories, etc.
In addition, we offer free cultural experiences such as workshop on wearing traditional style outfits such as Indonesian kebaya and Japanese yukata, batik painting, origami as well as ikebana practice and many more (*).
Indonesia Japan Friendship Festival 2023 in commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of Indonesia-Japan Diplomatic Relations (or “65th ANNIVERSARY INDONESIA JAPAN FRIENDSHIP FESTIVAL 2023”) will be jointly held by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Japan, Fujiyamacom Co., Ltd., KYODAI Remittance (Unidos Co., Ltd.), APIJ, Duta Melati, Basundari, ICJ. The Festival will be organized by executive committee of Japan- Indonesian community members.
